Would it be a fair summary of the review of Creature Isle linked from Mike's news item to say "This is shite"?

Or am I being harsh?

30-01-2002, 15:29:04
I'd say that's more than fair.

It has looked pointless, boring and annoying ever since I saw the concept. Now it's finished, pointless, boring and annoying.

30-01-2002, 15:46:18
Oh and disappointing.

Oh, shite, you mean.

Lionhead really see themselves as the New Firaxis, I think.

30-01-2002, 16:11:46
Firaxis haven't even tried to do anything original for a long time.

True, but in the sense of "Purveyors of Shite to Royalty"

PC Gamer reviewed Creature Isle this month and loved it. Never base one's opinions on a sample size of 1...

The idea seems boring to me, even if I see 100 brilliant reviews I don't think I'll be getting it.

30-01-2002, 17:13:57
It's not like I even played Black and White.

30-01-2002, 17:14:47
You'd like it, you get to beat the hell out of cute animals.

02-02-2002, 11:01:24
Yeah, but they don't stay cute. Think about it. Venom would be blasting things and smashing things, and he and his creature would get that 'evil' look pretty fast.

I picked it up at Best Buy my last shopping trip. They had it on special mark-down for all of $5. For that price, I'll try it out. And regular price was all of $17. I expect it will be at $12 quickly, then in the old bargain bin for the rest of it's shelf life pretty quickly, if it really does suck that much more then BnW. But I'd expect Mike to like it. More worlds, more tricks, more etc of playing BnW, and you like that, don't you, Mike?

02-02-2002, 11:06:12
Tell you what, seeing as I'm currently still playing B&W and actually enjoying it, I'll get Creature Isle and write a review?

02-02-2002, 11:14:06
Hey, CounterGlow accepts submissions, you know. Have fun and go for it.

You got a while... I'll drop it on my system before I get around to putting on Dominion Wars and a few others.

I was actually thinking of doing Half Life. Or a Final Fantasy series... Haven't decided exactly WHAT I'm in the mood for at the moment...

But I'd expect Mike to like it. More worlds, more tricks, more etc of playing BnW, and you like that, don't you, Mike?

It's just teaching your creature to teach another creature and a few arcade ripoffs. Well that's what it sounds like.

Black and White was worm poo!

03-02-2002, 13:28:22
A final Fantasy series review would be impressive, and take a very long time to research fully!

Actually thinking of playing FFVII again, what a fantastic game that was...
