I did not know whether this should have gone in the fil forum or here. However, it is a sort of hardware related thing so I'll try the experts here first.:)

I have a Region 2 DVD player. This is supposedly modded to play all regions DVDs. This goes through SCART to a standard PAL television.

I have now a Region 1 DVD of a film that I know was originally made in colour. Anyway, it plays OK - but only in Black and White.

Is this a normal thing with DVDs being played "out of region"? An indication that my DVD player is not modded (I would have thought that it would not have played at all)?

Any advice/experiences would be gratefully received.

You need a ZSXVB TV. Sorry.

Ah. Thanks. That answers my question.

Now (putting on 1--0 proof gear)

What's a ZSXVB TV? (or, alternatively, is there some sort of adaptor that can go between the DVD player and the TV?)

I meant NTSC. Or whatever it's called. The one that's not PAL or SECAM.

OK. NTSC. That answers it. Thanks.

I think. In reality I have no idea.

Well, you were right. I did a search for a NTSC PAL adaptor and that described exactly my problem.
