View Full Version : Anyone up for doing a feature on Box Sets?

It'd be much better if it were a collective feature, I only own half a dozen of the damn things and only three of those I actually like a lot.

Here's the thought:

Everyone who's interested writes 300 words or so on a box set of their choice and PMs it to me. I'll compile them, write a short introduction and add my own selection to the final mix. Then we get one of the web wizards here to post it in some canny way so that it appears collective...

Best sign up first before committing to anything. That way there won't be clashes.

Already taken:

1. Trojan Rocksteady Box Set - Snapcase
2. Rough Trade 25th Anniversary - Laz
3. Nuggets II - more artyfacts from the first psychadelic era 1964-69 - Chimneydick

If you've posted your pick in this thread you might as well PM me your review. It's not like we're going to let anyone trample all over you.

Panpipe Moods: (Performed by the Panpipers, Plaisir, D'amour, Island In The Sun, Macarthur Park etc.)

The background music in a cheaper, tackier curry house can be a relaxing addition to your dining experience. More often than not, it's also a source of great amusement, as you try desparately to work out exactly which pop classics have been re-recorded for 'Sitar Moods, Volume Twelve'. Panpipe reworkings of BeeGees songs are inexplicably prevalent, too.

It's a cd set with popular songs played to panpipes. What did you expect?

I'm going to do it, but I was also sick. Maybe I'll take a different set, I got the Pop 2000 - 50 years of german popular music set (8 CDs). Terrible stuff

Mail what? I've got mine and Lazzo's, if you want to do the introduction and wrapup and post it I can mail them to you... If you'd rather have me ruthlessly edit yours and prepare for publication, mail me instead at jaup100@york.ac.uk

Arse- Netscape erased the feature just as I was about to submit the fucker. Oh well, I'll try again.
