I got bored over the weekend. I did not fancy playing any CM4 - has not really grabbed me yet, maybe after the next patch (and it is better with the 2d display turned off).

So I turned to.....

Railroad Tycoon II.

Absolutely fantastic. This game still is addictive as ever and fun. It has the best economic model that I have seen in a simulation game. I still love this.

Does anyone else still play this?

Every so often. I normally play for a bit then get pissed off with something. I really like the big US maps though.

Whenever I find myself looking for a game to play I always go back to CM00/01.

Thanks again RC.

My pleasure Venom. I am glad it is put to good use.

If you take out the 2d thing then CM4 is not so bad but the initial fiddliness of training, the relatively slow speed and some problems with the player search etc still persuade me to wait for the next patch.

Could it be possible that they are overloading the series at this point? Oversaturating it to the point of damaging the game in an attempt to take it to the next level?

In short, yes. I think they have made some clear improvements and it hasn't yet gone to the extent that you suggest but they aren't far off it.

Yeah i do wonder. Maybe it reached the happy medium of complexity/reward already, possibly in the last version. But i will give this one a proper go soon.

Hey I played RT2 last week after the CD appeared in a discarded pile of important Tax stuff. What a cool game indeed!

Apart from the annoying old geezer going "Weeeeeeeeell looks like you fucked that level up. Why not have another go you loser!"

Bring on RT - 3D!

Starcraft. Back when I first played it, I skipped over most of the single-player missions.

Yes - the old geezer is definitely the downside on that game.

RRT2 is a great game, RC. Excellent choice!

I haven't played RRT2 in about 2 months. Been on a MoO2, MoO3, and GalCiv kick primarily. (Playing 2 waiting on 3. Trying out 3, going back to 2. Playing GalCiv...)
