View Full Version : LWP4 First Article - DEADLINE!

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 11:51:31
All the contributors now have the CDs. the DEADLINE for reviews of tracks 1-8 of CD 1 is 12pm GMT (that's lunchtime confused am/pm people) on Wednesday the 2nd April.

Send them to me via Personal Message. Use standard fonts and formatting and no fancy characters if at all possible or I'll cry.

I will compile the article and send out the comments on your tracks also via PM for people to respond to that evening.

Please get your responses on your tracks back to me by Saturday 5th April @ 12pm GMT. I will then publish the article on Saturday afternoon as soon as I get it done.

If you don't get your reviews to me before the deadlines I will not include them!

If any of that's going to be a problem for anyone speak now!

*End Is Forever*
27-03-2003, 11:55:48
I'm away Monday 31st - Friday 4th. I should be okay for the deadline but can you give me an extra 12 hours grace just in case?

*End Is Forever*
27-03-2003, 11:56:15
If I get them in on time then you can proceed as normal. :)

Scabrous Birdseed
27-03-2003, 12:00:15
Why leave three days for comment? Should be doable the same evening- leave the deadline as "immediately" and everyone will do it as soon as they log on for the first time. This may take three days, but can happen in a couple of hours too.

*End Is Forever*
27-03-2003, 12:05:54
Well it will take me until Friday for this round anyway, as I'm preoccupied in Blackpool for most of the week.

Scabrous Birdseed
27-03-2003, 12:10:27
Oh come on. I'm sure there are computers in Blackpool too. Writing a short comment takes two minutes, a longer, more considered one maybe ten.

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 12:11:41
3 days for comment because some people have 'lives' which mean they might not be at their computers every day. :D Anyway, I won't be publishing it until Saturday anyway so people might as well have that long.

Iain, it won't take you long to do your comment, just get up at five to twelve on Saturday. :D

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 12:12:03
Also, Debaser, have you got the graphics done yet?

So who do I have to guess from and what type of music do they like? How long should these comments be and do they have to be brilliant flowery english or just what I think in plain talk?

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 13:06:16
The best thing you can do is read some of the LWP3 reviews to get an idea of the reviews, that'll also give you an idea of peoples tastes.

Actually reading the old articles i've seen severa lreviews which look a lot like the ones i'm currently writing - 'sounds like it's from the tony hawk's soundtrack' etc.

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 13:24:51

You should be able to tell who submitted them as well then.

The first 3 are done. What dimensions do they have to be? Or doesn't it matter as long as they are square?

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 15:57:02
They need to be 100pixels*100pixels when I publish them.

Debaser
27-03-2003, 16:02:26
No problem.

protein
27-03-2003, 16:07:24
I have written "sounds like a shitty Tony Hawks soundtrack" on about 6 of the tracks.

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 16:12:15
Remember, I only need reviews of the first 8 tracks by Wednesday.

Debaser
27-03-2003, 16:13:12
I'll post the icon pictures in this thread as and when you need them.

Funkodrom
27-03-2003, 16:16:16
Or you could e-mail me the first one to make it more of a surprise. :D

I don't have previous knowledge so dont laugh at my guessing. It will be utterly random.

Personally I am too worries about my guessing to really care about anyone else’s.

The Shaker
27-03-2003, 19:51:09
Ditto.
I also noticed I used the word 'juxtaposition' in my last set of reviews.
I need to find a new word.

Sean
27-03-2003, 19:54:50
Damn, now I need to edit my review that uses the word juxtaposition.

You mean used to the keyboard? What else would you use?

Erm. Used to the characters on the keyboard is what I meant to say.

Of course, anything else is way too much effort.

"Concatenation" is sorely underused. As is "Frenulum", though that's a little trickier to fit in a music review.

protein
27-03-2003, 21:12:31
However, both are perfectly cromulant (hergutively speaking).

Sean
27-03-2003, 21:32:30
Concatenation makes me think of Unix :(.

Maybe we should set a weekly challenge word that Shakey needs to drop into his review?

This week's challenge word: Desalinate.

Debaser
27-03-2003, 22:36:25
Next weeks word: Tabernacle

The Shaker
28-03-2003, 10:48:22

Oh shit yeah, I wasn't even thinking about the people who didn't submit stuff. Who is that exactly?

BigGameHunter
28-03-2003, 16:35:47
I haven't gotten mine yet, but I remember getting a package from Australia and another CD (case) from Laz and it not taking much time. I am hoping to be able to submit by the "official" deadline...but if it will hold people up, I'd be happy to submit it as a "supplemental" once the first wave of reviews has lost its turgidity and becomes flaccid and in need of some fluffing.

Funkodrom
28-03-2003, 16:41:14
OK cool because I'm really keen to publish this article. It's great already. :D

BigGameHunter

One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard is on disk two. Followed by three of the worst songs I have ever heard.

Funkodrom
01-04-2003, 12:18:32
I'm going to have to have a listen and see if I can work out which ones they are.

Funkodrom

Assuming it's not one of yours I think that track 9 is the beautiful one.

I just tried to find three songs in a row I thought you'd hate. :D

protein
01-04-2003, 12:36:28
Surely everyone who is a musician would hate them too.

Funkodrom
01-04-2003, 12:41:29
That assumes that the people that made them hate them which is clearly ridiculous.

Scabrous Birdseed
01-04-2003, 15:46:17
I think 9 is shit but I like 10, 11 and 12.

Sean
01-04-2003, 19:05:45
I will submit mine tomorrow just before the deadline. Then I’m going to play football in the park while you lot are at work. Sucks to be you.

Debaser
01-04-2003, 19:52:03
I'll submit mine tomorrow morning sometime (maybe even tonight). Then, while you lot are at work, I'm gonna hunt down Sean while he's playing football, and shoot him in the nuts with an air gun like in Trainspotting. Sucks to be you!

Funkodrom
01-04-2003, 21:57:27
I'm going to receive Sean's reviews and then edit them so that they say something like

Track 1:
Oh no, this is much too loud. When Mummy heard the man swearing and found me curled up crying on my bedroom floor she took the CD away from me and washed my mouth and ears out with bleach. The whole village is coming round on Sunday to spank me with birch and watch me eat the compilation. Vicar says it's the only way I'll learn, if I survive. So I'm terribly sorry but I'm afraid I can't review the rest of the tracks.
Guess: Lazarus and the Gimp

Sean
01-04-2003, 22:20:50
Which church? We have several.

Sean
01-04-2003, 22:43:49
…thinking about it (and boy have I been thinking about it!) the churchyard I would choose as my first option for being spanked in is also a cemetery. So maybe I’ll have to settle for the Methodist one.

Resource Consumer
02-04-2003, 00:21:27
So track 1 was from Laz - that explains a lot...

Sean
02-04-2003, 00:25:19
Don’t give the game away.

Funkodrom
02-04-2003, 08:57:42

Reading what you wrote I sort of had the feeling you almost guessed it - just that others later on were rather more specific.

I am surprised it was that obvious, though.:(
