My boss was throwing out his old record player. So I've nabbed it. Sweet. Anyone got any records?

What's a record?

Here's one, the record for the Highest Sky-Diving Dog
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Try telling that to Brutus, the world's busiest skydiving dog! The miniature dachshund has made more than 71 separate skydives, accompanied by owner Ron Sirull. Brutus follows in the paw-steps of Katie, a British Jack Russell who made the first ever doggie skydive in 1987 from a height of 3,658_m 12,000_ft). Brutus has since broken Katie's record with a jump of 4,572_m (15,000_ft).

I couldn't really say no to a free record player.

I've got loads of records, lots stuff like The Cure, Ride, old indie basically. I've also got some instrumental hip hop/drum and bass type stuff. And best of all, Thriller, greatest album ever made. Oh, and Led Zeppelin III.

I've got Billy Idol, "hot in the city" on single.

Mike, do you want to borrow the two best Mudhoney albums?

Or Repeater by Fugazi? I think you'd probably like it.

Music on muffled analogue crackly format is apparently much better than music on digitally perfect media.

It's the ambiance, mate. :bounce:

I've got loads of vinyl. It's great. The 12" format cover has been scientifically proven as the perfect surface to skin up on.

It just sounds warmer, perfection is definitely overrated.

I still call them records whatever format they're on. It makes sense to me.

I got some 200 vinyl records and I'm slowly preparing to try and record them in CDs

Best vinyl I have is Led Zep II. It does sound better on vinyl than on the CD... more "wholesome".

But the record player I have is so old it's "loosing turns" which means it without announcement decides to turn slower than normal for half the turn which produces special effects.

Now I know what you mean by your "warm" guitar sound and why it's muffled and crackly.

You want me to start talking about your drum sound? :cute:

Yeah. By solid and punchy drums I actually mean sounds like a solid wheelbarrow being punched by an old man with parkinsons

Funkodrom
24-03-2003, 12:05:50
Was it a blow up wheelbarrow?

protein

Funkodrom

Outside the man or outside the wheelbarrow?

I'm assuming they were outdoors. Maybe they were inside. Or, like, in a freezer room slowly freezing solid.
