Better than LWP3. My CD1 is moody as hell, though. I have to bully it into playing several tracks.

Provost Harrison

Yeah, my CD1 is behaving a little oddly, but it works just about.

CD1 definitely sounds a lot more oddball than the previous collection...

Apologies. Like I said, those CDs are dirt cheap. If anyone’s fails to work, I’ll use a proper audio CD-R.

Provost Harrison

Yeah, I am having to run disc 2 on my PC...that seems to handle them without problem, I expect the car would be fine too.

Sean

Damnit, the audio CD-Rs are only 74 minutes long.

Provost Harrison
19-03-2003, 19:11:23
Disc 2 is a very odd bunch of tracks

Sean
19-03-2003, 19:13:44
You mean track 6? :D.

Provost Harrison
19-03-2003, 19:56:01
Track 6 is certainly...different

I just remembered I had this problem when I burnt a CD of my LWP tracks. My Discman had trouble recognising the disc, but my PC and stereo palyed it fine.

Definitely some unexpected stuff on there...

I have the CDs they were there when I got home yesterday afternoon. Just remembered that's why I phoned you last night Debaser. I gave them to Shakey last night but he couldn't extract them onto his PC. I'll try and do them tonight if you guys want to pop over and get them.

Funkodrom

Halfway through CD 1. Very good so far.

The Shaker

Any death metal?

Funkodrom

Not yet.

King_Ghidra
20-03-2003, 11:54:48
Ah ok, i'll come round to pick mine up later then.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 11:55:31
OK, I'll have to save them to my hard-drive then write the CDs so they won't be ready the second I get home.

I want mine. Dammit I can't leave the house. Too bright. Too bright. Cold. Soo cold.

I don't finish work 'till 8.30. Would it be ok to pop over at about 9.30ish to get mine?

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 16:12:27
Sure.

Debaser
20-03-2003, 16:14:26
Coolio, see you then...

OK so 10 tracks from CD1 come up with errors when I try and rip them with CDex. This is going to be a lot of fun.

Sean
20-03-2003, 18:50:29
Listen to them, see how they are.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 18:53:18
Doing that now. Track 22 came up with around 900 errors and is almost unlistenable. I'm trying to extract them again see if that helps.

Sean
20-03-2003, 18:59:45
Try a different CD drive? That worked for me the other week with a compeltely different CD.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 19:02:30
I haven't got a different CD drive on this machine.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 19:07:12
And the first review of the first 8 tracks is in. Thanks RC.

No wonder it never works right. Slave driver!

Also, are you going to do your guesses before reading everyone’s comments or just be honest? I was wondering about this as well, because my privelege has given me some insight into which groups of tracks are by the same person.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 19:27:04
I'll try and be honest but I did read RC's comments without thinking about it. I will put my guesses down now for the first 8 songs just to make sure.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 19:31:37
What's the participant list? The Reading lot, you, scabby, Iain, RC, PH MrBas and Laz?

Sean
20-03-2003, 19:34:40
Correct. Five in Reading, three in the north, and four others.

Funkodrom
20-03-2003, 19:37:38
Excellent. I can't tell who most of them are by. Except a few.

ARGH!!! I don't have 78 minute CDs!!! :bash:

I'll have to give people the CD to copy onto their computers or put it on 3 CDs or something...

Debaser

So far I've had a quick listen to all the tracks, and up to song 9 listening properly. They all sound great, much better than LWP3's CD (which was still good). Nice work everyone. I'm actually pretty keen to find out what some of these songs are.

King_Ghidra
21-03-2003, 08:55:59
ditto debaser, except obviously i didn't hear lwp3

anyway, definitely some good tracks on there, although i've also heard one that i hate :D

Funkodrom
21-03-2003, 09:11:07
K_G, if you want to borrow LWP3 you can.

King_Ghidra
21-03-2003, 09:50:56
quick question: does cd 1 have 25 or 26 tracks?

i have burnt tracks 2-26 so either the number got bumped up by one or i am missing track 1

Funkodrom
21-03-2003, 10:13:53
They both have 26 tracks, you might have missed one.

Scabrous Birdseed

I got mine today. Good stuff, but some astounding musical coincidences...

There's nothing strange about Disc 2 Track 6.

Lazarus and the Gimp
21-03-2003, 17:39:55
It's "PMS- The Soundtrack".

BigGameHunter
21-03-2003, 18:06:31
Hey, Laz...still planning on sending one my way for review?

Sean
21-03-2003, 18:14:47
I posted one for you yesterday. The envelope is a rather nice shade of yellow.

Lazarus and the Gimp
21-03-2003, 18:17:43
Yup. Sean has very kindly done the honours. The best thing about that is that you're less likely to get an empty CD case.

Provost Harrison
22-03-2003, 10:57:20
Well I have been able to play all the tracks one way or another so there shouldn't be a problem...

Scabrous Birdseed
22-03-2003, 13:23:02
My CDs both work perfectly in every environment.

Debaser
22-03-2003, 13:52:07
Mikes CD's worked fine on both my computer and my Discman.

The Shaker
22-03-2003, 19:19:39
Mine work fine man as well man.

Sean
22-03-2003, 19:22:06
Have any of you copied them yet?

Funkodrom
23-03-2003, 13:20:39
K_G, Debaser and Shakey all have them, need to get a copy to protein but he's still got the plague.

Scabrous Birdseed
23-03-2003, 14:20:45
I'm insanely curious as to who picked one of the tracks... It's by an artist that I thought I was alone in liking on these boards, and by all accounts a pretty obscure track too.

The Shaker
23-03-2003, 15:15:45
well I don't really have them,
and i'm still trying to find one of my tracks which doesn't seem to be amongst the tracks i do have.

I bet it wasn’t me. The more I listen to it, the more I recognise.

The Shaker
24-03-2003, 12:49:55
Sean..did you never recieve the mP3 you asked me to e-mail to you?
or am i going mad.

I'm gonig to have to burn these tracks to CD for work or i'll never get round to listening properly to hem

Funkodrom
24-03-2003, 12:52:16
Did you look to see if it was one of the 2 tracks you deleted from my hard drive when you copied them? They are back again now.

The Shaker
24-03-2003, 12:59:38
I had a quick look, but the network thingy kept crashing on me for some reason..odd cos t'internet connection was still working.

King_Ghidra
24-03-2003, 13:03:00
i need to grab track 1 off the first cd, cos i never got it when i burnt them

i've pretty much done all my reviews

Funkodrom
24-03-2003, 13:04:03
I'll sort all that out tonight then.

Sean
24-03-2003, 17:17:20

I got it and, as far as I am aware, I put it on there. If I didn’t then I apologise profusely.

Scabrous Birdseed
24-03-2003, 17:29:06
So which is the better of the two CDs? I say CD2.

Funkodrom
24-03-2003, 17:31:26
CD1, I don't really know yet but I figure the opposite of what you say must be right.

Debaser
24-03-2003, 17:32:50
I haven't listened to CD2 at all yet. Maybe I should.

Sean
24-03-2003, 17:38:05
I find it tough to call. CD2 has my favourite track on it, though.

Scabrous Birdseed
24-03-2003, 17:53:26
CD2 is much more varied, plus it's got some really nice tracks that make me listen to it again and again.

I think I've listened through it all the way five times so far, compared to twice for CD1. (Although I did do an "intensive" study of the first eight tracks for the review...)

King_Ghidra@home
24-03-2003, 18:38:02
yeah cd2 all the way

had a slow day at work on friday so i sat and wrote reviews of every track while i listened to them. Now i'm just modifying the reviews as i have more listens.

Funkodrom
24-03-2003, 18:45:49
Cool. Don't send me all of them though, I'm only compiling every other review. :D

BigGameHunter
24-03-2003, 19:19:38
Hey, thanks Laz and Sean!
I forgot about that empty case thing...that was pretty funny, actually.
Looking forward to what you all consider "good"...and hoping to contribute some good Pacific Northwest tunes to LWP5!

Either it's not on there, or I sent you a totally random track :)
ahh well.

Funkodrom
25-03-2003, 09:56:46
Sean should be able to at least listen to the tracks I sent and see if there's a different one on there to the one you sent him.

The Shaker
25-03-2003, 10:09:43
otherwise we'll ahve to do something where everyone imagines what the track was
and writes a review based on that.

I think I may have thrown the CDs out :nervous:.

Sean
25-03-2003, 16:04:45
Ah, found it. I could have sworn I put that track on, because I thought it was a coincidence when Higgsy posted what he would have chosen.

The Shaker
25-03-2003, 16:08:58
I thought that too :)

Sean
25-03-2003, 16:16:36
Ah well, one less track for people to be able to guess it’s you.

BigGameHunter
25-03-2003, 16:30:36
Well, I already know that if there are any Pet Shop Boys songs on there, they are Provost's choices.

The Shaker
25-03-2003, 22:18:17
