If not, I'm willing (like I'm sure other people are) to contribute additional tracks to fill up time.

Nah, bollocks. We've got enough already. Just get the CD's out.

I spoke to Higgsy on MSN yesterday, don't think he's going to manage to contribute. Can't remember why though... think maybe his CD Writer is broken or something.

Sean

Well, I emailed him and was going to give it up by Monday.

I’ll get the CDs posted by Friday at the latest.

Sean

Just started track listing and I knew the first track I heard (not mine).

I’ve taken advantage of Higgsy’s absence to give myself another minute or so.

Yeah, my CD Writer is totally screwed can't churn out any cds without buffer underrun errors. I've tried everything, swapping IDE cables around, burning at 1X Speed with no background applications running etc...

I was really looking forward to this too :(

Funkodrom

Could you send them to Sean as mp3s?

But then Johan would moan... :)

Sean
17-03-2003, 14:06:52
And I would! I guess I could send Higgsy a copy of the CDs, though.

Funkodrom
17-03-2003, 14:07:12
Doesn't he always? :cute:

You said it. :)

Sean

I reckon I have the track list for both CDs sorted now. I’ll give them both a listen through this evening and start burning them tomorrow.

Phew, we were saved! I'm glad Higgsy's CD burner took one for the team  (Higgsy - ;))

MattHiggs

My tracks would have been:

Alien Ant Farm - Whisper
Eminem - Never too far (off Infinite album)
Oasis - (cover of Who's) My Generation

CDs just posted. Interesting that Laz needed four first class stamps and RC needed one. Also, apologies to Bas: I meant to return the change to you, but I sealed the envelope before putting it on the scales.

*rubs hands together* Excellent.

I guess the question now is how long will they take to get to the everyone so we can plan the deadline for the first review.

Sean
18-03-2003, 18:32:46
I put together the CD with this in mind.

Weeks 1 and 4: 8 tracks. Every other week: 9 tracks.

Sean
18-03-2003, 18:35:27
Only that wasn’t what you were talking about :o.

18-03-2003, 18:42:28
Sean did I ask you to send it to my Manchester address or my York one?

Scabrous Birdseed
18-03-2003, 18:43:04
But that is an interesting thing TO talk about. Maybe a discussion of review formats/compilations formats is in order...

Or maybe the first compiler can set the style agenda. Who was that again?

Are we going to go for the compulsory guessing rule?

Funkodrom

I'm doing all the odd articles which includes the first one.

How many people are reviewing? I believe Nills wanted to be a reviewer even though he's not taking part. Who else was?

New thread?

Sneak. Yes.

I haven’t a clue, yours was the last one I did and I was just trying to get it finished.

As far as format goes, same as before, but with a table on the right that shows who guessed for whom? Or is that too fiddly?

More to the point, what about the icons?

Hmm... well I'm in Manchester at the moment if you've not sent it yet. If you need the address PM me.

Okay, fair enough. Can you tell me the address you used for me?

Sean

:bash:. No. PH might remember, though.

Okay, Rich said he gave you my Manchester address, so it's all good.

Provost Harrison

Yeah, I have given the address of your holiday villa ;)

Okay, I have my CD today, so now I can torture myself listening to it all day...

When do we have to submit for the first week? I am away from Friday for a week.

Scabrous Birdseed
19-03-2003, 13:17:34
It's unlikely to be immediately, I'm in Sweden and I don't think I'll get my CD for a couple of days.

Funkodrom
19-03-2003, 13:51:16
Isn't there at least one in the US?

Let's give them a week to get there and a week for reviews. Which would mean the deadline for the first set of reviews is the 2nd of April. I'll send out the reviews to the track owners that day and they can have 'till Friday to get their comments back to me. Article up at the weekend.

Resource Consumer

That is still tight for me as I won't be around.

Scabrous Birdseed
19-03-2003, 14:13:32
Do your reviews now then.

You'll have 5 days, it normally takes me about 15-20 minutes.

I subscribe to the "Sod it. That'll do" school of determining postal costs.

Then again, I have my CDs back already, whereas RC will receive his sometime next week with one of this nice "postage due" stamps attached.

Scabrous Birdseed

Did you notice I used six postage stamps in different colours?

Resource Consumer

OK. I should be able to get them out before I go.

I'm wondering why Sean didn't comment on me reusing Scabby's Civ III special edition box as the CD carrier. :D

Sean
20-03-2003, 13:17:32
I thought it was yours and didn’t want to embarrass you. Honestly.

Scabrous Birdseed: not as such, but yours was definitely more colourful.

I wondered if that might be it so I thought I should clear it up.

Mr. Bas
21-03-2003, 19:04:00
No problem about the change, I wouldn't be able to spend it here anyway. BTW, Sean, do you remember if you sent it to the Groningen address or the Den Hoorn address? If it's Groningen, it'll take me at least another week before I'll get it. Is there a first deadline anyway?

Sean
21-03-2003, 19:07:37
About the only thing I can remember about that was that the envelope was white. Well, that and your name. The first deadline is, I believe, next weekend (not this weekend) sometime.

Mr. Bas
21-03-2003, 19:28:22
Okay, I'll see where it will appear.
