Ok, I ain't got any snappy commentary for this game because I don't know jack about it, but there's been some mention of it so I thought I'd post this. Gamespot (satanic whores that they are) has a preview of one of the Top 5 Games currently in development. Of course that's the Top 5 list of games taking the longest to finish.

Check it out, it's a preview of Republic: The Revolution.

man, Edge has been showing articles about this game for fucking years

it does sound cool, but surely it can never recoup the development costs now?

Exactly. However, the issue is the marginal costs - the dev costs are sunk so there is a logic in continuing. There is still a chance though that it may become vapourware...

It's vaporware until shipped, isn't it?

You know what I mean...

I know I sure don't.

I'm not so sure I do either, I was just saying that...

I think RC meant to say that there is still a chance that they will round file the whole project.

It is already vaporware. Like Duke Nukem's new sequel.

That's what I meant. However, if it is this close to finishing (allegedly) then most of the costs are sunk and they might as well take it to the shops and try and get something back on it...

Problem is, as I have argued on the ELixir forums, if they are now under pressure to finish by EIDOS then there is a chance that it could be....well.....buggy.

funny, I've just subscribed to Edge (without ever seeing a copy of it) and received my first copy. Very stylish, I can finally leave my computer games magazines in the living room without being ashamed

Hey, Stars Supernova Genesis is still vaporware, and they've been finished with that for the better of what? 2 years now?
