Under a different name. Am I the last person to find out about this?

http://www.gamespy.com/reviews/march03/winningeleven6ps2/

Winning Eleven? Could that name be any gayer?

King_Ghidra

gay eleven bumfucking in the toilets and fellating each other's hot thobbing cocks before tonguing each others cum-filled asses?

btw, winning eleven is the name of the series in japan

:vom:
that's too much details...

When you get it home, change the camera angle to default long (I think that's what it's called) so it's slightly zoomed out from the standard view.

Then enjoy footballing perfection.

Still gayer if you make it Shaker's gay eleven bumfucking in the toilets and fellating each other's hot thobbing cocks before tonguing each others cum-filled asses

The only thing I find comforting is that this is the first winning eleven/Pro Evo series to make it here, so at least I didn't miss anything yet.

Funkodrom
10-03-2003, 13:47:20
Yeah, good luck with it.

Venom
10-03-2003, 13:51:30
Now explain to me why there's no Manchester United in the game? In a fashion other than Man United are bollocks.

Funkodrom
10-03-2003, 13:57:49
Er... dunno they are in PES, and in PES2 but with a different name, all the club teams are called something different in PES2 for some reason.

Venom
10-03-2003, 14:03:10
That's probably what it is then. Unless of course we're stuck with Jap names for everything.

Funkodrom
10-03-2003, 14:11:44
I dunno, now I've actually read the review it sounds like the US version just has a gay selection of club teams.

King_Ghidra
10-03-2003, 14:14:30
sounds like you're going to have to do some editing.

Any way most importantly, do what funko said and change the camera view to the long view, or wide or whatever it's called

Venom
10-03-2003, 14:22:16
Right, long-wide view. Gotcha.

Funkodrom
10-03-2003, 14:31:31
In the UK version there are three that are all called the same I think it's Default (short), Default (medium), Default (long) the Default might actually be Standard rather than default...

The view it starts off on doesn't allow you to see quite enough of the pitch.

I forgot to mention that I bought a PS2 over Christmas along wioth PES2 and I am still crap at this game...

King_Ghidra
10-03-2003, 14:40:15
this is the hardest one i've played

but it certainly can be done :)

Venom
10-03-2003, 14:45:16
You forgot to mention? Yeah right. You're ashamed RC. ASHAMED!

Funkodrom
10-03-2003, 14:46:03
Are you enjoying it though RC?

It is reasonably hard, even with coming up to 4 years practice in the ISS/PES series.

Resource Consumer
10-03-2003, 17:04:04
Yes. It is good fun. I just need to get my co-ordination together a bit more...

Haven’t played PES2 in aaaages…been playing an import copy of Winning Eleven 6: Final Evolution on the Gamecube. Even edited Bolton into the game. It’s so much better than PES2 it’s untrue. In PES2 you could just run through the middle of the CPU defence even on Master League Extreme, which got old fast. This has no such weaknesses, and plenty of strengths, including John Kabira.

Sean

 from the review:
‘The play-by-play is almost always on the mark and relevant.’

Is it, Venom? Who is commentating?

Funkodrom
11-03-2003, 09:24:09
I haven't played single player very much other than to unlock some of the bonus teams, and shakey did most of that, it is a bit easy to dribble through weaker human players teams though. Not so easy against a good player.

Sean
11-03-2003, 14:47:36
No, but it is still something that you shouldn’t have to compensate for. Also, if you catch someone off guard from the kick off you can run pretty much straight through their defence.

Sean
11-03-2003, 14:58:34
Just on the off-chance that someone gets WE6FE for the Cube, I can copy my memory card data for them, so they don’t have to read Kanji. My memory card also includes an authentic mis-spelled Costa Rican shirt name.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 10:18:57
Kick off has always been the easiest time to score from, I think it's actually harder in PES2, although maybe people have just got used to me doing it.

Venom
12-03-2003, 13:08:53
Damn thing doesn't come out until the 14th. Son of a bitch.

We all know that if you have kick off you are going to run in a straight line.

Tactic A) stop you.
Tactic B) Pause it, rearrange the team until you are distracted. Take it off you and score up the other end.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 13:33:29
The secret is not to run in a straight line but jink slightly and change between run 1 and 2 and occasionally stop and spin round a defender. GOAL!

12-03-2003, 13:50:11
Any comments on that one, Trevor...

Nah, it’s easier because the CPU defence is inept at handling a straight run through the middle, and L1-ing between defenders is kind of a stop-gap.

WE6FE doesn’t seem to have this problem.

Sean
12-03-2003, 16:17:26
Oh, and crosses are much better, but attacking headers are more difficult. Jump timing is vital now.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 16:33:10
I don't play against the computer though so I don't know how that's changed.

Sean
12-03-2003, 16:38:54
Er…CPU defence as in the defenders you aren’t controlling, as in the ones backing away from the attacker into their own penalty area.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 16:53:08
Hmmm... what formation? The DMC normally covers that for me. Or the middle man of a back 3.

Sean
12-03-2003, 16:55:36
I’m having some trouble remembering, as I haven’t played it in a while :).

Another flaw with PES2: shooting from range. It’s too easy to hit a hard, low shot in from distance.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 17:03:44
It depends what team you are playing with. We tend to play with the mid level teams down now. If you've got Pele you can score from anywhere. On the other hand it does make you feel like you've stepped up a level. Some teams you have to close down immediately, you can't allow any time on the ball and you can't afford to miss tackles against. It makes you concentrate a lot harder if you are defending 25 yard shots from wide as well as just the edge of the 18 yard box.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 17:04:39
I haven't played sober for ages, haven't played for a while in any state.

Sean
12-03-2003, 17:05:25
My problem isn’t with shooting from range, which has been my speciality since ISS Pro 98, but the way it’s done. The shots feel wrong.

Funkodrom
12-03-2003, 17:07:42
It's too little backswing in the animation.

Venom
12-03-2003, 18:24:40
Powerful legs man! POWERFUL!

Funkodrom
13-03-2003, 12:33:10
Yeah, that's it I think. The shooting animation is the same for any shot (although it varies from player to player) and sometimes it doesn't look like they kicked it as hard as it went.

Venom
13-03-2003, 13:11:25
Telekinesis perhaps.

Sean
13-03-2003, 15:50:26
Not the damn animation, the shots themselves are too low.

Funkodrom
13-03-2003, 16:27:07
Depends what direction you are holding when you shoot....

Venom
17-03-2003, 00:52:57
It's mine now. Played a couple of games so far and damn controling is hard. Shooting is extremely tricky.

Sean
17-03-2003, 01:00:19
Is it Final Evolution? If so, I think the GC version is pretty much a straight port and I can give you some tips.

Venom
17-03-2003, 02:08:28
Not sure. Give me the tips just in case.

Sean
17-03-2003, 02:22:26
I just checked, it’s Winning Eleven 6 International. This, so the GameFAQs boards would have me believe, is very similar to PES2. Therefore, for cheap goals, allow the opposition into your half, find an OH/CF in a bit of space near the half-way line, and run straight for the goal. When somewhere around the edge of the box, shoot to just below half power for a corner. Works like a charm, if memory serves.

Practice is still the only way to learn it, though.

Funkodrom
17-03-2003, 09:52:14
Yeah, practice. With practice you can score any type of goal. Dunno about specific AI beating tips though.

Venom
17-03-2003, 12:59:47
I just can't shoot worth a shit. Much like my real life soccer skills. It's definitely more real than FIFA.

Funkodrom
17-03-2003, 13:35:18
You get used to how long to hold the power bar down as you play more.

Venom
17-03-2003, 13:45:27
It just ZIPS up there. You have to like tap it and I want to rip some shots dammit.

Funkodrom
17-03-2003, 13:48:34
You get used to the length of time you need to hold it. Normally I find against good human opponents that I have to work fairly hard to makes the space to have the time for a full power shot before I'm closed down anyway.

Well, even at just over half power the ball goes pretty quickly. Long shots seem to be easier to block in the past few versions anyway, not like the halcyon days of ISS Pro 98.

Venom
17-03-2003, 14:04:47
I have managed to win 2 out of my first 3 games against the AI. I've yet to score more than 1 goal in each though.

Sean
17-03-2003, 14:06:03
National or club matches?

Venom
17-03-2003, 14:13:10
2 National. 1 Club.

Man the controls on this game piss me off. And I seriously question some of the AI on the CPU controlled players on your team.

But I did manage to win the European Championship with Italy. Even managed to score more than 1 goal in 1 of the games. A heroic 2-1 come from behind victory against Croatia. 2 goals in the final 20 minutes.
