This was a required read for me in grade 10 English. At the time I could only count on the fingers of one hand... one, two, three, four, five, SIX!?... the science fiction novels I had read that were as good.

There is a creepy movie you can rent of another Wyndam novel, the Midwitch Cuckoos.

I think his most well known was Day of the Triffids..

Ah. That book by John Wyndham.

Isn't the correct title "The Crysalids"? This is the one set in post-hollocaust earth? If so, yes it is excellent.

I read it when I was a kid too, and I remember it being engrossing. I hadn't realised the author also wrote The Triffids. He probably also wrote that Wellsian book about three-legged aliens that take over earth with their three-legged robots, and reduce us all to servlings administered from their City of Gold & Lead.
