well a beta disc.

Congratulations, you're one of the lucky one thousand fans to win entry into the Rise of Nations Beta in the recent contest held on the official Rise of Nations web site. As a winner you will be receiving a Rise of Nations beta disc which will contain 10 playable nations (18 nations will be included in the final game), three tutorials and the unique Conquer the World campaign.

Way to go!

We expect the dissing to begin soon.

I don't think I've ever won a competition before (but then I hardly ever enter any).

It's just ironic that it's from BHG and Mr Reynolds.

Strange karma.

Good thing they don't visit CG.

Show the bugs no mercy. :)

I'm envious now. I positively love to diss things, venom dripping.

24-02-2003, 09:09:35
I would recommend you stay away from Venom's drippings

I thought he just did.

3 minutes until crash? Wow. See if you can get it to repeat that... If you can, smack out a quick email to them on how. They'll probably tell you, 'Whoops! Our bad. It wants to play a unit animation we forgot to package. Thanks.' or 'Whoops! Our bad. It is trying to show you text that doesn't exists.' or 'Whoops! Our bad. It is trying to decide what to do...' (That's a joke. The others though... I've seen that pretty commonly beta testing a few RTS games in the past...)

It didnt repeat. For a beta it's very stable.

I played a full quick battle game just now, I really enjoyed it. Graphics and unit animations are all really smart, the town based territorial control system works well, and the lack of micromanagement (ie you don't have to replant farms, rebuild mines and find new sources of wood) is a real boon.

Some of the path finding is a bit average, but maybe they will improve that.

It's late, I'll be more detailed later and I havent tried any of the campaigns yet.

I always had faith in Game God Brian...

Sid is probably looking envious now...:D

Just remember that this is the Nav/RTS combo we are talking about here:).

06-03-2003, 20:45:30
What's that supposed to mean, S1?

I think he is unsure which part of the combination is most bug-ridden...

07-03-2003, 13:25:23
hey that cleared up weeks ago! I've had no re-infection since then...

One thing I know is sure I wont be able to give an indepth analysis of an RTS game the way Ned does.. maybe I can copy the disc...

I won it too. In the 'poly contest. Haven't received it yet though,

Nav - no need to mess with your beta. I'm sure I'll get to see this one way or another somehow:).
