BTW It really good, much better than the last one, perhaps even as good as De Stijl.

Have they got a bassist yet?

21-02-2003, 13:30:07
Nope, but (cover your eyes purists) occasionally they've overdubbed a second guitar!

I've been in contact with XL and they won't give me a promo copy for another two weeks, because of "national newspaper exclusives and so on".

Which makes me wonder how you got hold of one.

It's not strictly a copy of the album as such. I downloaded the songs of a dodgy internet site run by a journalist internet buddie. I'll pm you the link if you want to check the songs out, they are in .wma format and the quality isn't amazing (though I can't be sure the White Stripes don't intend it to sound like this.)

That'd be nice- I'm writing a review of it for our next issue, and a preview would probably be healthy.

Sounding great so far! I'd even go so far as to say it's their best one yet. Doesn't have the purity of the first album, but unlike last time the variation seems to both work as a unique sound and be in character.

It's really good isn't it, much more varied than White Blood Cells, but not so diverse that it doesn't sound like them.

Can you not give that link to too many people (ideally nobody). I've just been told off for telling you. Oops.

That's okay- I wasn't palnning to. It'll inevitably result in a deluge of downloads.

24-02-2003, 12:42:46
KG, no need to be rude. Consider yourself pm'd....

24-02-2003, 13:21:22
Every need to be rude, you should have burnt me a cd straight away without me having to ask :p

Thanks for the pm though :)

I wish I could. I've been unable to convert the files to anything my cd burner will read.

Anyway wasn't it you calling my CD burning habits gay a few weeks back?

24-02-2003, 13:31:05
hmm...don't think so, but that doesn't mean i don't agree

well i'm impressed with what i heard so far, although i've also heard a couple of tracks that i'm not to into, specifically one of the earlier ones with meg singing on. I normally like the ones with her singing (Jimmy the exploder?) but thsi one really turned me off.
