downloading this, looks like an important patch, gameplay and performance wise

also they released a new map, coral sea, which is just two carriers and lots of planes, really good fun

I believe this this patch will also be included on the upcoming Road to Rome expansion.

I'm a big fat liar. You'll still need the patch even if you have Road to Rome.

Ah, that sucks

yes actually v1.25 is the version on road to rome, so if you upgrade now you'll have to downgrade then upgrade again...

from what i've ben reading on this BF1942 forum (http://www.forummatch.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=273) some people are having some problems with this 1.3 patch anyway...

Figures. I haven't played online since I rebuilt my machine last week, so I'm at version 1.0 anyway.

I just baught Road to Rome and tried the SP Anzio mission. Pretty tough. Did anyone manage it?

RtR seems to be a little buggy.

I haven't gotten it yet, didn't even think about it this weekend. Should have though.

played lots online and offline this weekend

running road to rome patched to 1.3 and i am not having any problems at all

not sure i like these stupid tanks with two turrets (kind of remind me of some leonardo da vinci invention)

the new bf110 and mosquito are really fun

maps are cool, some clever designs - online i've seen both sides take a beating so they look fairly well balanced, but it will take a while before people get used to them

maybe i'll do a proper review if i find time...

Monte Cassino is quite fun, but the game hung up when I was going to win. The Sturmgeschütz is a tough opponent

i only played monte cassino as axis, wasn't too hard as long as we kept the first spawn, but after they got that they advanced quickly

Assault Gun.

10-02-2003, 10:37:38
The assault tank (with no turret). When used at defense from a distance it's really hard to smash and has some firepower

10-02-2003, 10:43:03
ah! the jagerpanther? i like that

10-02-2003, 10:56:05
I guess it's a SG III. Interesting that it's an "assault gun", but if you use it to assault you may get in trouble, because it's rear armour is weak and you have no turret to keep enemies away from the rear. if you crush through enemy lines you are dead.

i saw it as more of a tank killer, like the elefant

but i think the tank spawn is a bit strange in road to rome, all the vehicles are quite specialist, they should have mixed them up with the regular shermans and pzkpfw III's

I also really think it sucks that there aren't any original tanks in Road to Rome.
