Since I'm getting my 16 track as soon as it is available, I am brushing up on recording techiques. I will need them when Sonic Undermind do their middle of nowhere recordings in Autumn.

Anyway, I've found a great little program which tells you all you need to know about recording various instruments. It is available for free download here:

Wow, that's pretty comprehensive!

Not that I ever do any of the stuff it talks about.

Good shit huh?
It seems that I need some decent mics.

I might load up Reason today.

Download this thing and read up on guitar recording. Then we can argue about how to do things in Cornwall.
We are going to need (in addition to our band equipment) a stereo amp (I have got one we can take) and good speakers, excellent headphones and all the mics we can get hold of.

What's the stereo amp for?

Any stereo Hi-fi amp? Or a stereo guitar amp?

BTW, I'm getting a (legal - honest) copy of some CD lable printing software. We just need some labels.

Hi fi stereo amp for mixing and play back.

I've already got all that software. We need an excellent printer or printing company and some stock to print on.

Ah right, that makes sense.

I now have 9 people to send demos to and only 9 demos. We are completely out.

I've got some pretty good (ie about 30) headphones you can borrow if you want. JVC Digital Ready closed back thingys.l
