14-01-2003, 10:28:23
This February, Ultima Online releases Age of Shadows, the latest, and in it\'s own words, \'most aggressive expansion ever!\'. Major changes include: a complete overhaul of the combat system, including special moves for warriors; a whole new map, Malas, primarily designed to allow thousands of new player-owned houses; and two new character templates, Paladin and Necromancer, complete with new skills.
The full details are available at the Age of Shadows website (http://www.uo.com/ageofshadows).

Thanks to King_Ghidra for the update.

Is KG still playing this game at all? Can he tame dragons yet?

That would be cool.

Damn right

I have two dragons now, plus i'm riding a jet black daemonic horse called a Nightmare

tooka fucking long time raising my taming to this level, but with the dragon and the nightmare, plus the fact that my guy is a pretty awesome mage too, i can pretty much kick anything's arse

i'm buying the finer things in Uo life and saving up for a house :)

So the horse can fight too?

yeah, it's extremely hard - it can cast spells too

you have 5 control slots as a tamer, stuff like horses or bears take 1 each, so you could feasibly have 5 bears under your control at once, or four bears and 1 horse, or whatever. Dragons take 3 and nightmares 2 so they're the perfect combo.

together they take down things like blood elementals, which are considered very dangerous in UO, pretty easy

That's one powerful horse.

Each animal spawns with slightly random stats, my nightmare has pretty much perfect ones, so it cost me a lot of money, 50000GP (enough to buy, say 4 ships, or the deed for a large house).

Yeah, but now you can kick anybody's ass. A house isn't going to do that.

Unless you drop it on them. Its been done before.

It was an accident. I swear.

I haven't been able to spend half as much time in Ultima lately as i'd have liked, so subsequently my character is still trying to 'stat-up'.

General fighting skills are in the 50's, but I can blacksmith! Boy can I blacksmith!!!

good to hear, scud - i was hoping you were still out there :)
