Woo hoo!

Unfortunately their gig has been cancelled. I don't know why. Obviously I feel sorry for them and all (both?) the people looking forward to seeing them in action, but secretly I'm happy because now I don't have to go out in the cold.

ditto the sentiment, especially the bit about the cold

Get to the venue.

Find out the promoter has fucked off home.

The other band tell us that apparently when he turned up the venue told him he wasn't supposed to have booked any bands and when they told him to take a break over Christmas they didn't mean, assume it's OK to start again on the 7th without even talking to us about it.

We went home.

that sucks, but the road to rock 'n' roll stardom is, i'm sure, fraught with such moments

The word on the promoting grapevine seems to be that this isn't the first time stuff like this has happened with this guy.

Would have been nice if the word from the promoting grapevine had reached us before the gig.

Still, the 19th is going to be awesome.

Sorry about that (and don't mind my small joke)...

That's a bastard - happened to us once and we drove right down to the other side of Frensham (Hampshire) to play. It was not as if we would have earned that much from this gig.

Anyway, the same guy booked us for another gig in (I think) Woking and when it came to payment time afterwards Paul (the keyboard player) stopped loading the van and removed a baseball bat from the back of his car and asked "What about petrol money for the last gig?".

We got it.:D

The joke is even funnier in hindsight. Kind of pre-ironic.

I doubt very much that we'll be doing another gig with this guy after that.

Wanna buy a baseball bat?

Hey, if you catch up with him, you'll have me and Johan next weekend, and we would scare him enough, especially when we do our menacing look :D

I can't make Sunday unfortunately. I've just looked at my timetable and they've arranged 80% of my timetable for first thing Monday morning, cleverly situating the tutorial straight after the lecture so that I'm screwed if I skip it...

Damn. That's a shame. BTW it's next Sunday not this one.
