More Audioslave information...

The Audioslave website has been subtly updated. There are now news and media links. The site says the album will be out 19th November, I'm not sure if that's a US only release date, it has a full track listing and a band biography.

Free MP3 of the week #4
Music: Posted: 7/10/02 08:52 Author: Funkodrom Comments: 12 Comments

The free MP3 of the week this week has been submitted by a lurker who lurks so well I've never seen them post. Now despite the inherent evilness of lurkers this song, Mad Squirrel's suggestion, is so good I had to use it.

In their words; "Monkeys Are Bad People...That pretty much sums it up."

I think this one should be dedicated to Debaser's old avatar. Enjoy.

Hear'Se for Hear'Say
Music: Posted: 1/10/02 14:49 Author: Scabrous Birdseed Comments: 62 Comments

Is teen pop as we know it slowly dying on us in this fair year of 2002? The US singles chart, always somewhat ahead of its british equivalent, has been dominated by the twin spectres of Irv Gotti-style R&B and the more guitar-poppy Avril Lavigne-style sound. Even in britain, the older blah of Kylie or Ellis-Bextor has driven out the traditional teen-powered bleurgh, and groups like Sugababes with a more modern sound have started to find good leverage.

The latest symptom of the death of a generation of Pop music comes with the final demise of Pop Stars-created group Hear'Say. Though I suppose TV-driven "stars" like this will continue to sell to the clueless, but they're hopefully always fleeting when they appear. Who will remember Will woshisname and that awful woman who won American Idol in a couple of years time?

And hopefully, after the current overlaod, the TV Talent Show will soon die off to make way for some even more far-fetched "reality"....

MP3 of the week 3, slight delay.

I really, really wanted to put some Fantomas on the mp3 of the week but they don't have any legit mp3s out there so instead you've got something else insane. It's by a band called The Martyrs. They make noise which is hard to listen to. It was tough choosing which track would be best but I chose one of the easier ones to listen to in the end. This is called Kindergarten Suicide Diaries. It's on mp3.com again I'm afraid but it is good. It's only 1 and a bit meg as well so no excuses for not listening!

Your real favourite music lawsuit settled
Music: Posted: 24/9/02 11:09 Author: Funkodrom Comments: Add A Comment!

Courtney Love and the surviving members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and Krist Noveslevic have reached an agreement about how to market the band's remaining music. Apparently the full information about the deal will be released shortly and there'll be some kind of a Nirvana hits album out by Christmas.

See more here and here.

Remeber the "Mike Batt Plagiarises Silence" news story a while ago? Well, it has been settled. And yes, he's gonna have to pay a six-figure sum. Don't you just love the British legal system? Some classic quotes in this one.
