Starting in August of 2003, the RIAA will begin to sue all public P2P users that "expose" any of their member's copyrighted material. They are also going for a full court press to teach people to always buy their songs from a legitimate source, and therefore keep the RIAA and its members deeply in the green so that they can continue sueing all those who do not legally buy their products. Expect to hear from lots of artists saying "Please don't make me and my children starve because you stole my music instead of buying it!".

Hello again, it's been a long time since we had a free MP3 of the week but it's back and better than ever. Er... maybe. I still need plenty of your suggestions so get sending them to me.

This week's suggestion was sent in by Scabrous Birdseed, it's the theme from OutRun as played by Danish C64 revivalists Press Play on Tape. You can right click here to download the song and follow this link to see more of their crazy Scandinavian antics.

The Ivor Novello award for songwriting excellence has this year gone to, er, Coldplay. "Song of the year" went to David Gray of all people. Time for "regime change" at the Novellos, methinks...

Music: Posted: 16/5/03 12:45 Author: Funkodrom Comments: 44 Comments

The inhabitants of the music forum are about to embark on an ambitious new project under the dual banners of the highly successful Listen Without Prejudice and Loud Medicine projects.

The concept is as follows, forum members will submit music they have created themselves for a Listen Without Prejudice style CD and review cycle.

Some of the posters are going to be creating new work specifically for the project and some of these will take the form of new tracks based around a theme and using one (or one of several) sets of lyrics which can be submitted by anyone in the forum! If you want to get involved in submitting some of your own music, submitting lyrics that might get used in one or more songs, or writing a new track please visit the Music Forum now and join in the ongoing discussions. Even if you aren't musical at all you can write some lyrics.

Shock, Horror, CD Sales Slump
Music: Posted: 9/4/03 12:32 Author: *End Is Forever* Comments: 17 Comments

Global music sales are down a 7% over the past year, prompting the industry big guns to blame internet piracy for their misfortune. Well, it could be that, or it could be the bland, derivative, over-hyped, uninspired crap that constitutes the majority of major label output these days. Take your pick.
