VH2: "guitar music television"
Music: Posted: 16/12/03 18:06 Author: *End Is Forever* Comments: 7 Comments

Another addition to the plethora of music channels now available. It's going to be either be great or absolutely dire. I know where I'd put my money.

"A new era in rock-ivision begins today, with the launch of guitar music telly channel VH2.

Get out your remote and turn to channel 446 on Sky Digital for 24 hours of 'real' music. Providing a sonic punch in the mouth to manufactured pop pap, VH2 is crammed full of top rock and guitar tracks from the 1990s through to today."

Overrated cretin Jack White and Von Bondies frontman Jason Stollsteimer came to blows over the weekend in Detroit, according to reports. White has claimed he acted in self-defence, but a spokesman for Stollsteimer suggested it "was not a fight" but an "attack".

Iggy, The Stooges And Jack?
Music: Posted: 5/12/03 07:55 Author: *End Is Forever* Comments: 5 Comments

Fresh from recording his first material with the remaining Stooges for decades, Iggy Pop has fuelled speculation that Jack White might fill in - on bass, ironically, on a future Stooges release.

"We came very close, but Jack wanted to do an entire Stooges album, and the Stooges weren't ready for that," Iggy said. "It was one of those things that got a little off balanced and went a little too far, too fast, so it didn't happen."

Surprisingly, Sam Phillips only died Weds

Yes indeed, the father of Rock'n'Roll production didn't push up the daisies until this week. Who'd have thunk it? Damn people get old these days.

Anyway, he was a really cool dude and invented distortion by punching holes in a speaker cone with a screwdriver. Respec'.

White Stripes Out Of Carling Weekend
Music: Posted: 31/7/03 15:30 Author: *End Is Forever* Comments: 5 Comments

Luvvie-darlings the White Stripes have finally pulled out of the Reading and Leeds festivals after Jack White's finger failed to recover in time. Don't say I didn't warn you. Ha.

BBC News Online Story.

Mercury Nominees announced
Music: Posted: 22/7/03 14:27 Author: Funkodrom Comments: 12 Comments

The BBC has a ridiculous headline claiming that rock bands dominate the nominations when there is only one rock band amongst the nominees. Clearly Coldplay will win it but it's great to see The Darkness in there.

BBC report here. Also there's a much more interesting article about how past winners have stood the test of time. Read it here. I'm relatively surprised to see I own 5 past winners, all of which are excellent.

I hope he's insured it...

There'll be tears from the assembled NME hacks, as poor Jack White has broken a finger and won't be playing T In The Park. Heaven forbid anyone suggesting that it might not be a bad thing if he doesn't recover before the Carling Weekend. No, really.
