Free Game of the Week - Attack of the Buggles

Another great little single player game from the Casual Collective.
Attack of the Buggles. It reminds me quite a lot of Filler which was posted a couple of weeks ago. Move your mouse around avoiding the bad guys, but this time, you pick up boxes with your buggle. Average game time 30 seconds, give it a go.

Great engine, enormous possibilities, questionable level design. Luckily there's an editor!
Edutainment usually sucks, but this one sucks, blows, lights, conducts, heats, generates, bounces, pulls, rolls in treacle, etc. etc. etc.

Tank you Debaser for this novel Qix-a-like. In this game you use your mouse to make circles that you try to fill up the screen with, and avoid bouncing balls. Debaser says "the score to beat" (ie. his top score) is 33773, or ELLEE if you like calculator writing.

Free Game of the Week - Flash Element TD 2

Just over a year ago Flash Element Tower Defence was launched. 70 million plays later, the creators have quit their jobs and gone full time creating "casual" flash games for people to fill their work days with. Finally the sequel to Flash Element TD is out. You can play it here.
Another game from these creators, the Desktop Tower Defence, was a big favourite on Counterglow when it was game of the week. The difference with DTD was that your towers themselves formed the maze that the creeps ran through. Here, you're stuck with a fixed maze, but the twist is that you have to defend your elements, if the creeps steal them all, you're dead!

A "launch"-type game from a kids TV show. Doesn't sound great, does it? But with the strange physics implementation, the well-thought-through bonus items and the skill-based (yes, not luck based! In a launch game!) learning curve this is a better treat than most.

Those of us that follow hastily withdrawn announcements already knew, but here's the proof. And the scans.

Tim Schafer of Full Throttle and Grim Fandango fame creating a game starring Jack Black as an axe-wielding roadie killing demons and hair bands to save heavy metal. It's called Brütal Legend. It guest stars Lemmy, Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio. It's got to be good, right?
